Yatno - small space living; via up knörth

A bit extreme for most – but with the rise in demand for micro apartments around the world this concept could become more and more common place. Yatno designs simple, space saving and apparently comfortable furniture. The Dutch brand sprung up offering solutions to the shrinking size of apartments and increasing interest in small space living. They see this as a realistic future and are offering their very functional, aesthetically pleasing designs at affordable prices.

Yatno Dua

Yatno Dua

"In the Netherlands it is allowed to rent a room of a minimum of 5m2, when there is a public facility of at least 11m2 (toilet, shower, kitchen). This is Yatno’s framework. In other countries, especially in Asia this minimum living area can be smaller or non-existent.

With this in mind, Yatno was created. A furniture piece which fits in 5m2, and has a flexible nature. The furniture piece accommodates basic living needs in a restricted space." - Yatno

Yatno Satu 4-function Unit

Yatno Satu 4-function Unit

The Yatno Satu works as a 4-function multi unit; A bed, chair, desk and storage all in one, that combined with the Yatno Dua (clothing rack, storage, drawers and steps) create the essentials that one needs in any space.

The idea of living as clean and simple has many merits - live with less, impact less. Quality over quantity. And though this concept is more likely to (for now) be utilized for day-day life overseas, the concept of small space living is slowly making an impact here in North America. Not to mention this furniture would make a great interior space for a Nordic style cabin in the woods.
