Wine Crate Garden

Growing your own food is rewarding on many levels - you get to enjoy fresh, organic produce at an arms reach. Growing it and making it visually appealing is another thing. Landscaping can be tricky and tedious - especially in areas where it rains excessively. Building a garden of upcycled wine crates is then, logically, the next best thing. You will need 1-5+ wine crates, depending how big you wish your garden to be - on the downside, if you cannot find empty wine crates you may have to indulge in a few bottles. To waterproof your crates we recommend 3 coats of Danish oil (it dries to a food-safe finish). Once dry, flip the crates upside down and drill equally spaced holes for even water-drainage. Add in your soil, seeds and enjoy your garden. Wine crates offer ideal soil depth for growing basil, baby kale, mixed lettuces, radicchio, spinach, radishes and strawberries, tomatoes etc.
