For both Vancouver locals and tourists the travel destination seems to be Vancouver - Whistler direct, stopping in Squamish only for gas. What is a strong, local community centred on outdoor lifestyle and local, organic foods remains relatively under the radar. The city of Squamish is a growing youthful population who want something more than what the city can offer; honest living, honest outdoor fun and scenery that is guaranteed to take your breath away. A home to many organic farms, divine local eateries and even a few breweries.

While there is no Wholefoods, Squamish is home to the On The Farm Country Market - a small exclusively organic grocery supplied daily from farms nearby - From eggs, to milk, to fresh cheeses; at a fraction of the cost. What's the icing on the cake? A quick 20 minute drive outside 'downtown' Squamish puts you out of cellphone range, in some of BC's most spectacular scenery. Home to some of Canada's most famous hiking destinations - The Chief and Garibaldi Lake, glacier waters, a fly-fishing haven, a hunters paradise, river-side beaches and endless neglected logging roads eager to be explored.

If we haven't given you enough a reason to visit Squamish, we'll also be there Saturday April 26th 10am to 5pm at the Refresh Market. The Locavore Food Truck (serving the best organic porchetta sandwhich, burgers and more) will be parked just outside alongside some other food local food trucks. Details on the event here.
