Orofino Winery : Grapes And Straw Bales
Orofino Winery, located In Cawston, BC, began in 2001 when owners John and Virginia Weber purchased a vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. Their passion for great wine and eco-friendly design came together to create Canada's first ever straw bale winery. The earthy walls provide ideal temperature control for the wines, while also maintaining truly unique architectural characteristics. Nestled among Almond, Oak and Quince trees Orofino Winery has grown a reputation as one of BC's finest wines, and is renown for hosting a variety of events such as their annual 1.6 Mile Dinner Fundraiser - all featuring their award-winning wines. The winery offers a fine array of reds and whites, and has recently come out with their 2011 Orofino Moscato Frizzante, a Similkameen Valley first. Bubbly or not, any of their bottles will make a handsome addition to your wine cellar.
