Hungary Destroys GM Crop Fields

Apart from banning GMO seeds altogether, Hungary has also stepped up the pace in ridding the country of existing Monsanto & Pioneer GMO products. A new regulation introduced this March checks all seeds for genetically modified components before introducing them into the market. Unfortunately, some GMO seeds made it to the farmers; thousands of acres of crops have been found to be the genetically modified corn variant. They were hastily ploughed under, burned and destroyed before they could be pollinated. Nonetheless, local farmers are at a loss - with the season already underway, it is too late to re-plant; this years harvest will be without corn. This is a huge movement for Hungary, and an initiative that the rest of the world should seriously consider.
