Elfin Lakes; Pacific Northwest Glacier Vibes
They were right when they said heaven was above. Turns out you only have to climb 1,600metres to get there. Elfin Lakes - two glacier fed alpine lakes sit quietly on a mountain plateau with one of the worlds best views. After a 12km hike, a dip in the refreshingly cool lake almost beats a cold beer.
No matter which direction you turn your head, the views will not disappoint - Glaciers, layers of mountain peaks, alpine meadows and waterfalls in every direction. Nearing the lakes you'll find a Ranger Station and an overnight A-Frame hut that can accommodate up to 33 hikers a night. The cabin hosts excellent facilities, including 4 long tables and full cooking facilities to be shared by everyone - an atmosphere that is sure to make for great hiker chat. From the cabin, you can attempt several other hikes (and fishing lakes) such as Opal Cone, the Gargoyles or Mamquam Lake.
