Bardessono Hotel : Sustainable Luxury
An example for luxury hotels, proving that intelligent design can be combined with a sustainable business model. Built in 2009, on the 1928 Bardessono Family Farmstead, The Bardessono is a Hotel, Restaurant and Spa located in Yountville, California. Developer and owner, Phil Sherburne, combined environmentally conscious design with luxury, history and artisan values - the hotel itself being constructed using locally sourced stone and fine salvaged woods. Everything from the heating and cooling systems, water use, organic bedding and cleaning supplies are taken into consideration, while the restaurant also ecologically distinguishes itself from others by its careful approach in cuisine. Using only locally grown foods, the renown 'Lucy' Restaurant embraces the 'field to fork' eco-spirit, a culinary philosophy governed by the seasons, while their Bar and Lounge proudly serves artisanal spirits and sustainable, organic wines.
